Arcelab Inc. Architects designs beautiful structures and spaces for those who choose to create their own living environment.

We understand how difficult it can be to find the perfect living environment. Sometimes you already have found it, but life’s events change things and you find that you need to change your environment along with it. As such, you must create your own. This takes time, energy, and the willingness to look forward and create something new, something special that has never been before. As architects, that’s what we do and we live for those opportunities.

Landscaping

Landscaping - Located within Hope Ranch, Santa Barbara, CA, the 1.5 acre property has 26 beautiful and mature Coastal Live Oak trees that were required to be protected. The design provides a “U” shaped floor plan with a south facing 60’x60’ outdoor courtyard, that contains a lawn area, swimming pool, and drought tolerant planting composed of CA native shrubs and grasses. The driveway is paved with permeable pavers over a 1’ depth of gravel that allows the site’s rain water to percolate down into the ground and not run off into the adjacent street. We also transplanted a row of drought tolerant mature olive trees to provide privacy from the adjacent property for the swimming pool and sun bathing area.

View looking north towards the Santa Ynez mountains with several Coastal Live Oak trees in the foreground flanking the new permeable paved entry drive.

View looking east with the bedroom wing in the background and the new retaining walls creating a terraced slope containing transplanted olive trees providing privacy from the adjacent property’s residence located above it.
